The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra has developed a robust relationship with military musicians in the U.S. Army and U.S Air Force stationed in Missouri and Illinois. This partnership, called Joining Forces, has SLSO musicians team up with military musician to present rousing performances at area colleges, in the community, and at Powell Hall.
The partnership has led to chamber concerts at Southwestern Illinois College and McKendree University, and an every-other-year joint concert at Powell Hall. The Joining Forces concert at Powell Hall is a highlight of the SLSO's year, presenting rousing patriotic music with a Color Guard display, drum corps, and ending with John Philip Sousa's The Stars and Stripes Forever.
In this SLSO Story, learn more about a recent Joining Forces chamber concert at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, which featured works by Mozart, Enescu, and Helmut Eder.
