Outside the SLSO: Low Brass Hits at High Note

SLSO Bass Trombone Gerry Pagano

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s reach goes far beyond Powell Hall. Many musicians participate in other ensembles, run private studios, and enrich the lives others through the power of music outside of their efforts with the SLSO. The SLSO celebrates these efforts and brings you stories of our musicians in the community.

SLSO Bass Trombone Gerry Pagano founded the St. Louis Low Brass Collective. He believes it's the only organization of its kind in the country that performs with just three instruments: trombone, euphonium, and tuba.

HEC-TV and storyteller Paul Schankman produced a video piece exploring the capabilities of these low brass instruments and Pagano's efforts to get them more exposure.
